Supporting Adult Carers in South West Edinburgh
Space @ The Broomhouse Hub is proud to offer a friendly, confidential service, completely driven by the individual carer.
If you have a role caring for a loved one and want to ensure you’re getting the support you’re entitled to—or just want to know someone is on your side—get in touch today.
If you are at a crisis point and need immediate support, help is available from many of our partner organisations: Check out Vocal’s Carer Support Finder to locate immediate support that fits your individual circumstances.
We currently support more than 100 adult carers who have a wide range of experience and challenges. Our service is part of the Edinburgh City Council’s Carers Support team, with a specific remit for South West Edinburgh.
As well as information and advice, we offer advocacy for carers struggling with work or home life to ensure they get the benefits and help they need—from helping with disabled parking applications to getting equipment or support from statutory bodies like NHS Scotland for the cared-for person.
As with our support for young adult carers, we provide one-to-one help and guidance, such as offering a friendly ear to listen to issues, or signposting people to other sources of help.

For more serious concerns, or where someone is struggling with their caring role (for whatever reason), we can help put in place emergency support plans to make sure everyone is looked after as well as possible, and gets the help they need.
Our team has years of experience and our work is focused on providing early intervention, before more serious concerns arise. We can also signpost carers to the most appropriate mental health and wellbeing support, if required.
We offer a range of informal opportunities—including peer support, groups, drop-ins, and information sessions—providing a chance to socialise and make new friends.
Carers are able to choose how much or how little they engage.

Young Carers
Caring can start at an early age; it might be as simple as helping a disabled parent around the home or supporting a sibling.
