Supporting older people and improving quality of life
While The Beacon Club is about providing high levels of care for older people, it also serves as carer respite. Carers can enjoy several hours to relax, unwind, and manage their affairs, knowing their loved one is in good company.
If you know someone (in the EH11 or EH14 postcodes) who may benefit from our Beacon Club, please get in touch. Referrals can come from relatives, friends, or professionals. It doesn’t need to be from your GP.
The Beacon Club is an enriching and stimulating daycare service for older people with dementia and those facing social isolation or loneliness. People with dementia deserve respect and dignity. We work to improve members’ quality of life by connecting them with dedicated staff and nurturing volunteers.
Sessions are limited to 10 people each. This ensures we provide the highest level of care, while reducing anxiety about large groups of new people. We provide refreshments on arrival, a choice of hot meals at lunchtime, and a blend of activities and outings to suit all preferences. We ask members to make a small contribution to the costs of running the club.
The Beacon Club caters for people with mild-to-moderate cognitive impairment. That includes those who have not yet had an official dementia diagnosis. The social group is ideal for isolated older people who may enjoy one day a week out of the house to spend time with others.
