Friday Youth Club Volunteer

Looking for Youth Work experience?

Our dedicated Youth Work team is looking for volunteers to support the delivery of our Friday Youth Club.

Support the team in organising and delivering a programme of interesting, fun youth work activities driven by the young people, ensuring they get their say in the decision-making and giving them a ‘seat at the table’ to shape their own experience with the service.

We strive to deliver a welcoming, inclusive environment for all young people, helping them to alleviate stress from the school day and enjoy time with their peers in a non-competitive setting.

We currently provide two Youth Club sessions on Fridays:

Eight to 11 years old: 4:30-6 p.m.
12 to 17 years old: 6:30-8 p.m.

Help deliver a fun, engaging service

Key Tasks:

Set up room with resources and equipment, as directed by lead Youth Worker
Clear away equipment at end of session
Take an active role in sessions and encourage others to do so
Work closely with young people to understand their needs and interests
Support lead youth worker in creating opportunities for participants to experience new activities

Remuneration/Expenses

This is an unpaid position. However, reasonable expenses associated with the role—like travel to and from Broomhouse Hub—may be reimbursed.

Induction includes

Successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) before joining Youth Club sessions.

What we’re looking for in Youth Club Volunteers:

Volunteers must:

Be 18 years or older to help deliver Youth Club sessions
Be confident in and enjoy working with and supporting young people in a large group setting
Have the ability to comfortably communicate with young people and understand their needs and interests
Be sensitive to the needs of others
Be adaptable to new and challenging situations

Volunteers should:

Have experience spending time with children or young people
Have some knowledge of current issues affecting children and young people and their families

Please note: No qualifications or experience is necessary at all to volunteer with us, as full training is provided by our skilled team of staff members.
