Space CEO Neil Hay commented on the recent incidents affecting our community.
Neil stated:
“I am concerned and troubled by the violence across Edinburgh last Friday evening, following other recent incidents.
“Naturally, my thoughts are with those who were injured, their families, and everyone feeling shock, fear, or anxiety. No one should feel unsafe in their neighbourhood, on their journey home, or while taking part in community life.
“At Space @ The Broomhouse Hub, we believe strong communities are built on respect, integrity, and connection. Every day, we bring people together from all walks of life—regardless of age, disability, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, or identity—to support one another and build a shared sense of belonging.
“Holding a lawful belief or opinion isn’t the issue. Demonstrating that belief unlawfully through violence and division harms not just individuals, but the trust, safety, and belonging that communities like ours depend on.
“We recognise the wider impact these incidents are having. If nothing else, our work shows how vital safe spaces, trusted relationships, and community-led support are to wellbeing and resilience—for everyone.
“Broomhouse has a strong community spirit and is at its best when people stand together. Space @ The Broomhouse Hub will continue working to ensure everyone feels safe, valued, and that they belong.“
