Vote Space Young Carers for Tesco Stronger Starts Grant

Space’s Young Carers is bidding for a cash boost of up to £1,500 from the Tesco Stronger Starts scheme.

As one of three local community groups shortlisted for a grant, we need Tesco customers in Corstorphine, Hermiston, and Stenhouse to vote for us!

Young Carers members on an adventure

Caring can start at an early age—whether that means attending to a disabled parent or helping a sibling who needs additional aid—which may limit opportunities to socialise or impact someone’s schoolwork.

Space’s Young Carers runs groups four days a week, providing a chance to make new friends and get peer support over dinner—as well as enjoying the chance to just be kids and play.

We also provide one-to-one tailored support, working on an individual basis with each child to make sure they are as confident as possible and getting the help they and their family need.

For slightly older carers, there are residential short-break opportunities, providing respite in the form of weekend trips or days out (especially in the school holidays).

Our patient and dedicated team have years of experience providing support to young carers in schools, as well as a range of advice and information to maintain positive mental health and cope with the increased demands a caring role can bring.
