‘While we like to regularly share our good news and activities with everyone on social media, occasionally we need to also inform people about disappointing news, and this is one of those occasions.
I’m sorry to announce that due to funding cuts we are having to reduce the number of days we operate The Beacon Club from five to two.
I know this will hurt some families, and that’s the last thing I ever want to see happen.
From April, Beacon Club will run on Thursday and Friday. This means that we are unable to support all the people we currently do, and this is not easy to accept. We have worked hard to restructure our team and the provision of the service to give the best possible chance for the project to continue and provide a basis to rebuild.
I know this will be difficult for those members and families that we are unable to support further, but they are being helped to seek alternative assistance where possible.
My thanks go to The Beacon Club staff and volunteers who have worked professionally and admirably during what has been a very trying time for everyone. And to our members and their families for their understanding.
I hope this is a blip and we continue to look for new funding to relight our Beacon Club, until then, my thoughts are with everyone affected by this enforced change.’
