Dust off those community enhancement ideas and start thinking about how to make them a reality with a £500 to £2,000 grant.
Space @ The Broomhouse Hub has been awarded £20,000 from Baillie Gifford to distribute among organisations, projects, and community groups across South West Edinburgh, including the Broomhouse, Sighthill, and Parkhead localities.
Projects must fit one or more of the Investing in Community Fund priorities (below); applications should describe how you plan to meet them.
- Reducing Social Isolation
- Improving Communication
- Employment Opportunities
- Supporting Families In Need
- Community Wellbeing
Funding will cover all reasonable expenses, including building rent, staff or volunteer costs, and other overheads like materials or refreshments.
Where possible, we’d like to see new ideas or concepts that support existing services. We do not want to replicate services already on offer locally. For example, Space provides support for young carers; however, a specific activity to benefit young carers would be considered.
We expect the fund to be very competitive and may opt to fund part projects, we expect the average award to be £1,000-£1,200. Awards will take account of public votes, as well as the Space team. Voting will be online and in The Hub from 6th November.
Alongside the cash funding, there will be additional community space available at The Hub from December 2023 as part of trial weekend opening. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for more information on this soon!
The turnaround is very tight. We recommend you read the criteria and application guidance before drafting your bid. You can download a copy of what is and isn’t funded here.
