Space For All as Broomhouse Hub Opens Doors to Community Groups

Space @ The Broomhouse Hub is providing free room hire for local charities to offer community activities and groups.

Two Saturday* slots are available—1-2:30 p.m. and 3-4:30 p.m.—for three-month ‘residencies’ at Space.

Whether you want to launch a weekly board game meetup, catch up with your yarn-and-yammer pals, or run a community choir, you can apply for free use of the Hub’s Main Hall area, which has a capacity of approximately 60 people.

To apply, please complete this form, due by 1 July 2024.

Chosen participants will be notified by 22 July 2024 and gain access to the hall Saturdays* from 3 Aug. to 26 Nov. 2024. Following a festive break, the second set of groups will run from January through March 2025.

Please note: While the halls are available free of charge, groups are responsible for their own staffing.

“We know that costs have risen significantly for all charities and community groups in the past few years and wanted to find a way to assist,” Space CEO Neil Hay said.

“Room hire, especially for smaller groups who do not have their own premises, is a big part of their costs,” he continued. “We are [now] in a position to offer a whole raft of help to the community, including free use of the halls at Space, well into 2025.”

That includes the upcoming launch of a Saturday morning breakfast club for under-16s; new “Kids Club” for children in P3-P6 (ages seven to 11) with games, crafts, and more; English as a Second Language (ESOL) Family Group; and Saturday drop-in for Young Adult Carers.
