As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure Space @ The Broomhouse Hub is inclusive to all members of our community, we have recently become an approved Keep Safe Place. Keep Safe is a national, award-winning initiative that has been developed in partnership between Police Scotland and community charity I Am Me Scotland. It aims to tackle Disability Hate Crime by creating Keep Safe places for anyone who may seek assistance if they are lost, scared, or vulnerable while out and about. The initiative hopes to help people with a disability to feel safe within their community.
A Keep Safe card has been designed to help anyone assisting you to provide you with the help you need, including any information about your health, communication preferences, and details for who to contact on your behalf in case of an emergency. You can request a Keep Safe card by contacting iamme@renfrewshire.gov.uk or download and print your own from www.iammescotland.co.uk.
There is also a free Keep Safe Scotland app that you can download on iOS or download on Android. The app will provide you with a full list of Keep Safe places, along with opening times and contact details.
Many people use Keep Safe because it makes them feel safe knowing there are places they can go to if they need a bit of support when out in their local area. Even if you do not hold a Keep Safe card, if you feel lost, scared, or vulnerable when passing through the area, you can enter The Broomhouse Hub and we will assist you however we can.
