It was a day to remember here in Edinburgh last week as we wound down on another successful Broomhouse Street Party! Over 1,600 people were in attendance, with families travelling in from all across the city to take in the atmosphere and see everything that the Broomhouse community has to offer.

This is our annual community event organised in collaboration between Space, B Healthy Together, the Community One Stop Shop, St David’s Church, and The BIG Project and it is always a great delight to see it come together. A big thank you to all of you for the part you played in helping to make this such a success! Especially The National Lottery Community Fund who made much of the event possible as well as Edinburgh City Council Community Grants, Scottish Government Investing In Communities Fund and Edinburgh Fringe.

Our kind funders Foundation Scotland put the word out about the event, and it was featured in a number of news outlets, including Edinburgh Live and the Edinburgh Reporter, and Edinburgh Evening News journalist Neil Johnston very kindly came down to record the best of the day for us.

This year’s event was even bigger and better than ever, with round-the-clock entertainment from local musicians The Lime and the Coconut, DJ Nae Ice, the Ukrainian Choir, and taking time out of their busy Edinburgh Fringe Festival schedule, The Beatbox Collective!

We also had a range of activities for all ages, including bouncy castles, face painters, balloon modelling, football training and beat the goalie sessions, and even an excellent drumming workshop with Morag from Moving Music!

We were also entertained by some great performers brought in by the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, including an amazing fire juggling display from Kozo Kaos, the entertaining Pop the Balloon Man, and more. Thank you all for coming along and putting on a spectacular show!

Free food was served up by our Space Kitchen and Outta Space Pizza teams, while our younger attendees were given vouchers to redeem a cold treat from the Ice Cream Van!

So many great organisations and charities also came along and set up stalls to provide valuable information, advice, and support to our community. Thank you to everyone that supported us on the day:

Finally, we cannot give enough thanks to all of the members of staff and the incredible volunteers that gave their time to help run the Street Party. We had an incredible turnout this year with more volunteers than ever from the likes of Ooni, Lloyds Bank, and Tesco and your support means so much to us.

We hope everyone had a wonderful time at the Street Party and we’re already looking forward to making sure next year’s event is even better! We’ll be looking to the community for feedback shortly – make sure you follow our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages to keep up-to-date with the latest!
